Frequently Asked Questions
The VEGA Vacuum Degasser is a deaeration unit that removes dissolved oxygen and nitrogen from closed-loop plant water by vacuum principle. Separating gases from water prevents corrosion, cavitation, and air lock; it especially extends equipment life in high-temperature heating circuits.
Dissolved gases form microbubbles in pipes that reduce heat transfer and pump performance. Oxygen causes corrosion; nitrogen causes pressure fluctuations. The degasser removes these gases proactively and increases system reliability.
It is used in high-temperature central heating, district heating stations, industrial boiler circuits, chiller secondary circuits, and precision process cooling. It is especially recommended for plants with high make-up water.
The degasser is typically located near the hottest point of the system, on the pump suction side. Bypass line and filtration arrangement should be planned per the manufacturer’s guide. The vacuum pump and separator require regular inspection.
The vacuum unit consumes electricity but significantly reduces corrosion and failure costs. With annual vacuum-pump oil, filter, and gasket checks, the system operates more economically over the long term.
System flow rate, operating temperature and pressure, make-up water ratio, and target dissolved-gas level are the key inputs. The Tanpera engineering team determines the appropriate degasser capacity from your project data.
